We've been hearing a lot of "owie tummy" around here the past couple of weeks.
On Father's Day we went to the local waterslides and Jacob seemed to have an upset tummy, but he was excited about the water and had lots of energy. As soon as we got home he fell asleep, then woke up sick during the night. It was a bad case of norovirus and he missed the entire week of summer school. It didn't help that he only wanted to drink milk! We even took him to the doctor on Monday because we were worried about appendicitis. Thankfully it was not that. But it was a miserable week with him spending a lot of time crying, and curled up in a ball feeling terrible.
By the weekend nobody else had come down with it (there was a LOT of bleach used here!!) and we were hoping we had squeaked by with just one casualty. Not so fast. Sunday night Natalie came down with it. She was so, so sick. Poor girlie. It is now Friday and she is barely eating. She is dehydrated and very weak...Wednesday night she slept 15 hours straight. To see Natalie without energy is very, very strange. So my job today is to get her to eat and drink. She is trying, but it is tough. Yesterday morning she was lying on the couch and she told me that sometimes being sick makes her feel like she's not going to be able to live. It was soooo sad.
So. We have lucked out with a summer run on norovirus (woohoo). I am extremely thankful that so far, the rest of us have not been hit. But I am not counting my chickens before they are hatched!!
