KINDERGARTEN!!

We have been thinking, worrying, dreaming, and praying about the first day of Kindergarten for Jacob for many years. On August 5, the day arrived!

He is in the nearby public school, just a few blocks from our house, and is attending a regular Kindergarten class. An IA (Instructional Assistant) from our ABA therapy program attends with him.

My parents and brother came up for the big day. Here is Uncle Eric (along with Natalie) walking Jacob up to the school. He was all eyes!
He got a little time to play in the Kindergarten play area before class, and was happy as could be. I love this shot!
Inside the classroom, the kids found their seats and then learned how to put their backpacks on their chairs SIDEWAYS. I helped Jacob...a little difficult because he was more interested in looking around the room. Then the teacher called the kids up to the rug for their circle time. She had them all turn around and wave goodbye to their parents (along with grandparents, aunts, uncles, daycare providers, ETC!). I left Jacob in the good hands of his IA!

A few hours later it was time to go pick him up! Here's Miss Sydney, ready to brave the heat.
Jacob seemed happy and the teacher said he "did great!" We found a spot in front of the school to get some pictures. It was windy and the trees above us were blowing. Jacob was laughing over the wind, which meant for lots of smiles in the photos!
Natalie was excited for and proud of Jacob, and was wishing it was time for HER first day!
