Drama

Today we took Natalie in for her 7 year checkup.  She hates, hates, HATES shots or blood and was so excited that she wasn't going to need vaccinations this year!  I didn't mention the little finger prick they do to check iron levels.  But on the way there, she asked for sure if she wasn't going to get any kind of shot.  So I let her know about the finger prick.

Oh my.  She was sobbing the rest of the way there, begging me to take her back home.  She said all her fingers hurt just thinking of it.  She cried in the waiting room and tried to refuse to go into the exam room when it was time.  By the time the nurse actually did it, Natalie was a sobbing, shaking, huddling mess in my arms.

The nurse told me she was very glad that it was not a vaccination day! ;)

Sydney was out in the waiting room with her aide...this was during her normal morning therapy session and so they just kept working out in the waiting room.  The aide told me she could hear Natalie screaming out there.

As someone who gets a lot of anxiety and who hates going to the doctor, I can understand.  Wish there was a way to make it easier for her!  But she did get through it...a trip to the ice cream shop is on the plan for this afternoon!
