Light it up Blue!

On Friday, April 1, we participated in Autism Speaks' "Light it Up Blue" campaign...asking everyone to wear blue, and use a few blue lightbulbs to promote autism awareness. Chris, Sydney and I visited Jacob's classroom and brought blue cupcakes. I stood at the front and explained why. A little tricky to a 1st grade inclusion class, but between the teacher and me, I think we got the basic point across! Jacob was tickled that we were all there visiting, and the kids all came up to me afterwards to show me where they had some blue on their outfits. It was a fun visit! We also made t-shirts and we all wore ours. We even brought one to Jacob's 1:1 aide at school, who put it on right away!

Here are some pictures I took during afternoon therapy...Jacob with his aide and Sydney with hers. They were walking to the neighborhood playground, and Natalie was going along as well. She DID have her shirt on earlier but it got dirty so we switched her to a blue outfit. All the shirts said "World Autism Awareness Day" on the front. Jacob's said "For me and my sister" on the back, and Sydney's said "For me." I ran out of transfer paper so I couldn't get Jacob's name on hers too! ;)

Chris also picked up a few blue bulbs from Autism Speaks at Home Depot and we did indeed light the house up blue. :)
