His driver brought the parrot, Haley, out and showed her to Jacob. His hands went out immediately to try to pick her up. The driver let us know that Haley likes to sit on your shoulder, but not to be petted or carried.
Natalie wanted a turn too. Haley walked up her arm and perched on the back of her neck, hanging onto her shirt. She was so cute, and Natalie was amazed! Then it was time for Haley to get in the car and take Jacob to school. Natalie, of course, started to cry. The driver told her he had a special present for her from Haley, and handed Natalie a GREEN feather. That produced a grin!!
What a neat treat!

How cool. We have had some of the nicest people as drivers for Rachel. Last summer one of her old drivers was "in the neighborhood" and saw us in the front and stopped to say hello and find out how Rach was doing.
That's so sweet! During our autism awareness walk this spring, there happened to be a gentleman from the humane society with two parrots that you could donate a $1 to have sit on your shoulder.
