Jacob has peer play twice a week, where his wonderful friend Porter comes over for about an hour and they play together in a structured way during therapy. It is teaching Jacob how to interact with his peers and gives him a chance to have a peer model.
I really like how his therapy program has him interacting with peers in three different ways...one-on-one in peer play, in a group setting at gymnastics class, and then in a school setting at preschool. We really can see the difference it is making!
And Natalie gets a special treat when Porter comes over...his mom brings Kai too (Porter's brother). He's the same age as Natalie and most of the time they are either hitting each other or kissing...

Here is Christine trying to get Jacob to "attend" (pay attention!) to her. He is fairly easily distracted outside and, of course, has some trouble with eye contact. Usually they do some sort of "sweep" where they take an object and sweep it up from Jacob's eyes to their own eyes, in order to direct him to look at them. But when that fails they sometimes have to put their hands around his eyes, like blinders, to get him to look up at them.
