Jacob has been SO happy to go to school this week (W & F). The bus driver who dropped him off on Friday afternoon said he was actually crying at school while waiting for the bus because he didn't want to go home yet. Awwwwwwwwwwww. ;0)
So here is some of what was reported on his home log for Friday:
So here is some of what was reported on his home log for Friday:
- The kids were very excited about Jacob being there today (they have class M-F so he is not there every day) and everyone wanted to be his special friend (they have a peer helper program in place). Before circle time, we all played puzzles, legos and alphabet...They loved that Jacob knew his letters so they would take turns picking a letter on the carpet for him to label.
- At circle time, he did a great job sitting and when his name was pulled out of the bag for a job he independently stood up! He got to be the soap person!! (his favorite, of course!)
- During outside play, some of the kids were kicking a ball around...he was laughing and watching for awhile. Then after a minute he joined in and started chasing after it with them and was laughing the whole time. ;)
- Sang "if you're happy and you know it" with a peer who brought a bear that played the song. It was so cute, he was sad when they had to put the bear away.
- He was not happy to come back inside but once inside and playing with the blocks he did really well. He was working (they have him spend part of his time at school doing discrete trials) to play on the computer (his reinforcer) and really liked that.
- At the snack table he asked to go potty many times, and also when he didn't want friends helping him (Ahhh....he's discovered the "potty break" as a way to get out of a situation he finds uncomfortable!).
Overall a really great day for him!!
AND....we re-enrolled him in gymnastics, so he gets to go with his IA to class this morning. He is going to be so excited to get back to "jump-jump!"
UPDATE: He went to gymnastics this morning and Chris said he was grinning in the car the whole way there. And his IA reported that he was squealing during the class, and singing, "if you're happy and you know it." I love days like this!
