Catch

The other night, Jacob did something really cool for the first time ever. He asked Chris to play catch with him!

We were eating dinner at the table (Chris & I) and had just bought a couple of new playground balls that afternoon. Jacob picked one up and brought it over to Chris. He handed it to Chris, saying "Daddy?" Chris asked if he wanted to play catch and Jacob repeated the phrase with a big grin on his face.

So then Chris tossed it to Jacob...who actually HELD HIS HANDS OUT AND CAUGHT IT!! Normally he'll just let the ball pass him by without even trying to catch it. And on the rare occasion he holds his hands up half-heartedly, he rarely catches it. Not this time. He had a big grin on his face and was definitely trying.

Chris took him to the hallway and they tossed the ball back and forth for several minutes, with Jacob catching it most of the time, throwing it nicely back to Chris, AND laughing away! When they were done, Jacob brought it to me and we tossed it back and forth a few times as well. He was so happy!

I don't know which I am most impressed with...that he initiated it, that he actually was catching the ball, or that he was having such fun the whole time. :)
